It's Spring! [Mar. 31st, 2006|09:36 am]
Yay! It finally feels like spring!
I've been getting in a lot of bike rides and it feels good, I have been riding in a higher gear now, I guess I am getting stronger.
I've been dating a guy named Chris who I met on myspace, and that has been going well. He plays guitar and does back-up vocals for a band and I went to see them play and they sounded great! We saw V for Vendetta last weekend and it was an awesome movie!
I am very happy that the season of the Sopranos has begun, and have been enjoying watching that. Lost has also been getting exciting lately too!

Change of scenery [Mar. 15th, 2006|10:01 pm]
Well I haven't updated in a while. Two weekends ago I was sick with some sort of flu-like illness so not much happened that weekend. It only lasted like 2 days and I was better. Last weekend I went on a skiing/snowboarding trip to Canaan Valley. It was kinda ironic cause it was like 70 degrees that weekend, but they made snow and it was still fun. It was my first time snowboarding, and I fell a lot, and am a bit bruised. It was good to get away and have a change of scenery. In the evenings we played a lot of scrabble and poker, now I am a poker expert! We also were perusing the tv and I watched Planes, Trains, and Automobiles one night, which was a good movie.

Another weekend past [Feb. 28th, 2006|08:17 pm]
On friday night, I played in a poker tournament, and lost $40. Oh well, it was fun nonetheless. On saturday, I went on a bike ride at the NCR Trail with Jeff and then we got subs for lunch. Later that night I watched "Crash" and "The March of the Penguins." Crash was an awesome movie, and very political also. The penguin movie was cute! On sunday, I went shopping with my friend Michelle.

Last weekend and this week [Feb. 24th, 2006|10:07 am]
Last friday, I had lunch with my friend Wanda and she made an attempt to fix me up with someone but it turned out he was about 10 years younger than me, oh well. On friday night I went to Edo Sushi for dinner and rented the movie "Waiting" which was hilarious, but it does make me paranoid about eating out. Hehe. On saturday, one of my neighbors knocked on my door and told me he works on cars and noticed that I had a "bubble" on one of my front tires and that it looked to him like it was about to bust so he recommended I get it replaced ASAP, so I called up one of my friends and he gave me a ride so I could get my tire replaced. Whew! Thank goodness for my neighbor, that could have been bad. On saturday night, I watched Princess Bride and some Family Guy episodes. On sunday, I FINALLY saw Brokeback Mountain. It was a very powerful movie.
This week I have been enjoying American Idol. I was also flipping through Showtime On Demand and ran across a show called "Huff" which is about a psychiatrist and the things he goes through. That is a great show! Some of the scenes remind me of situations I have been in as a social worker. It really is a hard job to do day in and day out, and I don't always think that people appreciate that.

Last two weekends [Feb. 16th, 2006|09:41 am]
The weekend before last was cool, on that saturday I went to NYC for the day on a bus trip to see my friend's band play. It was very fun! On that sunday, I went to Brian's superbowl party.
Last weekend David came into town with his friend Stacey and they stayed at my place. We went into DC and did some sight-seeing at some of the Smithsonian museums (the Hirshhorn and Air and Space), shopped at union station, and ate at Chinatown. We also just relaxed and watched some DVD's (Elizabethtown and In Her Shoes) and went shopping at IKEA since they don't have them in KY.

Last weekend [Feb. 2nd, 2006|08:26 am]
On friday night, I went duckpin bowling and to the new Cheesecake Factory in Columbia for dinner, YUM! On saturday I went for a bike ride with my friend Chris and it was GREAT to get back out, it had been a while. The rest of the weekend was pretty uneventful.
I am excited because David is coming to visit next week! It will be good to see him again!
My friend Michelle invited me to go on a 3 night skiing/snowboarding trip in Canaan Valley the beginning of March, and the room I would get has 2 single beds, so she said I can bring someone, so if anyone is interested, just let me know.

Weekend [Jan. 22nd, 2006|07:17 pm]
On wednesday night, I had dinner at Edo Sushi and coffee afterwards with my old friend Dennis. :) On thursday night I went to the new member dinner at Kiss Cafe, and met some very nice people. I had wanted to go to the game night on friday night but I never got the directions e-mailed to me. (?) So on friday night instead, I looked at a house with my realtor and then went to dinner with a couple friends. On saturday, I cleaned my apartment and went to Target and got some stuff to improve the decor, like area rugs and whatnot, it was fun. Then I went to dinner at Padonia Station with a friend on saturday night. Today, I went bowling with a friend.

I didn't get the house [Jan. 17th, 2006|06:52 pm]
[Current Mood | sad]

I just got word that I didn't get the house, they didn't take my contract due to a better offer. :(
I am really disappointed cause I had a good feeling about this one and it was my first contract after looking for 6 mos. I guess it wasn't meant to be.

[Current Mood | stressed]

I put a contract on a house today!!! It was the first one I have done. Now I just have to wait and see if they are going to accept it - how nerve wracking!

My anti-valentine site [Jan. 13th, 2006|05:12 pm]
Well, cafepress is having an anti-valentine contest, and since I am both creative and boyfriend-less, and feeling a bit cynical, I started a site:
http://www.cafepress.com/jessdzigns
I am going to be adding more designs soon. I have a million more ideas, I just need to create and upload the stuff.
I will write more later.

Weekend [Jan. 9th, 2006|11:20 am]
[Current Mood | hopeful]
[Current Music |Over My Head]

Well, on thursday night, I went to the Coffee in White Marsh event, and it was good to catch up with everyone. Dinner at Five Guys Burgers and Fries was good too. On friday, I looked at houses, and I saw 2 that I liked, but then I talked to the mortgage guy, and since both the houses were at the upper end of what I qualify for, he was basically politely telling me that it would be a financial stretch once we add in insurance and taxes. I wish I could get a financial windfall so I can buy a house already!!! On saturday, I treated my friend Michelle to lunch, it was her birthday, and then we went shopping at Kohls, and I was happy to have went down yet another size in jeans. On saturday night, I went to Chevys Tex Mex at the Arundel Mills mall, to take yet another friend who had a birthday that day, out to dinner. Chevys food is great! On sunday, I went grocery shopping and did some ironing, mostly stuff around the house, and then watched Spirited Away, which David had gotten me for Christmas, along with a crock pot cookbook, and "The Fray" CD. Spirited Away was an awesome story!

Year in Review and Resolutions [Jan. 4th, 2006|11:37 pm]
Well, 2005 was kinda a rough year for me overall, but I had some good times too. January through April was pretty much a blur, but May was pretty significant cause it was my birthday month, and also my friends Dave and Jessica got married. In the summer, I had fun at the Killers concert, and the Jack Johnson concert, and I enjoyed a trip to OC and to Kentucky to see David. Unfortunately, also in the summer, I got into a car accident, which was a physical and emotional hit, as well as a financial one. Also, unrelated to the accident, I had to get surgery for a medical problem, and that was scary. In the fall, I started at a new office that was a better financial situation than the previous office, but it was a bit of red tape to deal with also. I also went to the Renaissance festival and that is always a good time. Halloween was cool, and I got to spend time with my family for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I hope 2006 will bring some good things. I'd like to further develop my friendships and relationships with people, and buy a house, and get back to some of my creative pursuits, and I'd like to maintain my business, and continue biking.

Christmas [Dec. 29th, 2005|11:38 am]
[Current Mood | chipper]

I'm kinda disappointed that Christmas is over already! I had a good Christmas weekend - I got to visit with some more friends and exchange gifts, I got to see my family on Christmas day, I got some cool gifts, and the Raven's won! Some gifts I got were: a griddle, a crock pot (that doesn't work and I have to exchange), a wall calendar, a leather bound schedule book for work, the Revenge of the Sith DVD, a roll of quarters (much needed), aromatherapy, and a fountain thing for my cat, who likes to drink from a stream of water and not a bowl. The fountain thing was making some scary noises the other night, so I'm not sure about that. I think it might be malfunctioning. Oh and I bought myself a Raven's jersey since they are on sale since it's the end of the season.
I tried to ride my bike on saturday because it was warm that day, but there was still snow on the trail, I guess with the trees, the sun doesn't get to melt it quickly! So I rode out on the roads instead.

Ho Hum [Dec. 20th, 2005|10:34 pm]
This weekend I saw King Kong, which was great, and got together with a couple of my female friends to exchange gifts. I also saw Cinderella Man on DVD, and I enjoyed that also.
I also went to the Welcome Wagon committee meeting, and Rob and I are going to be co-chairs of the committee. If I don't see you guys before then, Merry Christmas!

Weekend [Dec. 12th, 2005|11:06 pm]
Well, this weekend I saw the Chronicles of Narnia, which was awesome! I also went out with one of my guy friends at Mt. Washington Tavern and ran into some familiar faces. :)
I also had fun at the holiday party on sunday. I ended up with a stuffed animal but really wanted that poker set....oh well. I also got most of my Christmas shopping done, finally!

It's cold! [Dec. 7th, 2005|08:59 am]
Well, last week the maintenance man at my apartment complex stopped by to change my filter, and I asked about why my blinds hadn't been replaced yet, because it had been like a month since he said he was going to order them. He said he forgot about it after he had ordered them, and he checked and they had come in so now I FINALLY have blinds that work in my living room!
I've continued to do house hunting and haven't had any luck.
On friday night, I went to Edo sushi with my ex (we are still friends), I love their food! Then I met my friend Wanda and some of her co-workers for a girls nite out. They had karoake and I sang "Open your Heart" by Madonna and "Doll Parts" by Hole (Courtney Love).
On saturday, I finally saw Harry Potter - The Goblet of Fire with my friend Chris, and thought it was great. Then we went to Carmine's for a late lunch and I had an awesome greek salad there. Later in the evening, I finally saw "Pi" on DVD, and it was a bizarre movie, but I liked the idea of it.
I was frustrated to not be able to bike ride the past 2 weekends due to the weather, and went to Dick's Sporting Goods and bought a bike trainer so I could ride inside. It was kinda difficult to put together and attach the bike, but now it works, but is is VERY noisy. I'm anxiously awaiting spring!!!
I decorated my apartment for Christmas. I haven't done any Christmas shopping yet though.

Thanksgiving Weekend [Nov. 27th, 2005|06:40 pm]
On wednesday, I went to see Rent, and hang out at the Hunt Valley Avenue. I got to see Wegman's when it was less busy, despite the snow. I really enjoyed Rent. I hope that it brings some AIDS awareness back into societal consciousness. I say that because it seemed in the 90's that there were always tv shows, and ads promoting safe sex, but the trend seems to have fallen by the wayside, from what I've noticed, and it's scary.
On thursday, I saw my family for the holiday.
On friday, I had a date, and it went well. We had dinner at Chili's and saw "Walk the Line," the story of Johnny Cash. It was an excellent movie, very well acted and directed. On saturday, I went to the Thanksgiving with friends event at Jenny's. It was fun to get to try out the DDR, even though I am not very good at it.
Today I ventured out to do some holiday shopping, and went to Old Navy and Kohl's, both had great sales. Now I'm doing 3 loads of laundry cause I finally have quarters. By the way, if anyone ever has quarters they don't want, feel free to donate! :)
